School Year Highlights
The elementary has had an exciting school year this year. They toured Chick-Fil-A, went to Atlanta for a field trip, brought their animals to school, and they had a fun field day. Each class had an exciting time this year creating their own memories.

The K-3, K-4, and K-5 classes had many adventures. They went to Mark’s Melon Patch, made some amazing shaving cream sculptures, and even made cinnamon ornaments. The 1st grade class toured Chick-fil-a, visited the Columbus Space Museum, and they had a great time at Wild Adventures

The 2nd and 3rd grade had many adventures, too. They learned a lot studying with Miss Sonja and making Miss Health’s animal book. The 4th and 5th grade was able to take a field trip to Atlanta, where they went to the Braves Sta-dium and toured the Coca-Cola Factory.

The elementary had a great time learn-ing about the Electoral College by holding a candy bar election. The best time they had was at field day. Coach Walker came up with a fun-filled day of games and races for the children to enjoy.

The elementary has had many fun times. They had a great year and look forward to next year.

The Junior High students have had fun this year learning new things and meeting new people. Mrs. Shelley joined the TA faculty this year after Mrs. Wendy left, and all the students continued to have fun while Mrs. Shelley taught them English. Mrs. Shelley exploded a bar of soap in the microwave, making a big gooey mess trying to describe how to visualize adjectives. When they finished "The Outsiders," they had a party and even dressed up in costumes like the characters in the book. The Junior High also had to write "how to" papers that would be demonstrated in front of the class.

Coach McLendon and Mr. Pate kept it simple. For his students to get practice with Power Point, Coach McLendon started getting his history class familiar with PowerPoint this year with two projects. Mr. Pate says that his classes always cut up, but he enjoys teaching them about civil rights, planets, lights, and electricity. PE always comes at the end of the day for the Junior High; this is a great chance to

let their energy out while playing basketball or kickball with Mr. Pate.

This was also Coach Bry-ant’s first year at the school. He enjoyed meeting new kids and teachers. He likes to make fun of his class because they did not know the song "Free Bird" until the speaker brought it up in chap-el.

Coach Bryant’s students are answering questions from a school in Florida and mailing them back to learn more about how the schools are alike as well as different.

Every year the eighth grade class goes to the Teen Maze to learn about the choices they make in their life. Mrs. Carpenter was able to join in on the fun this year as the kids’ chaperone. She has enjoyed watching her students learn to love Literature while making fake advertisements and Medicine Man bags after reading the story.

Mrs. Shelley and Coach Bryant planned an eighth grade field day where they played games, went to Albany to eat then came back to school and watched the Terrell Academy baseball game.

The high school is always busy! Mrs. Ashley’s seniors made memory books. The juniors and sophomores reviewed figurative lan-guage with the Dukes of Hazard and are reviewing SAT vocabulary. The sophomores and some of the freshman also did Facebook biography projects. All of the High school students finished their Shakespeare plays. Juniors and seniors also gave "How To" speeches.

Coach Jones’ US History class revised the preamble into more modern lingo. The Government/Economics class learned to understand economy and how America relates to the rest of the World. They also learned how the government regulates businesses and what effects that has.

Coach Crowdis’ Chemistry class made a 12X12 cube over an assigned element and gave important facts about their element. Biology 2 made ani-mal dioramas of any animal in their natural habitat. Bible class made posters of their favorite Bible verse with an illustration.

Mrs. Chambless’ Trigonometry and Algebra II classes both learned about logarithms. Algebra I learned the quadratic formula song.

Mrs. Burnette’s Spanish I class watched a new video set, learned new verbs, sang Hispanic folk songs, played vocabulary games, had conversation, and made God’s eyes. Spanish II made piñatas, stud-ied foods along with fiestas, learned past tense, stud-ied reflects over grooming, and made posters on types of stores.
